2-day Introduction to Tool Training & Tool Skills – Instructor: Rod Tait, Orca Boats

This introductory workshop is designed for anyone new to woodworking or looking to build confidence using hand and power tools safely while working on a small take home personal project. Participants will learn workshop safety, proper tool handling, and basic techniques used in woodworking and boatbuilding. Instruction covers measuring, cutting, shaping, sanding, and assembly while completing a simple project.

This course is ideal for beginners and serves as a foundation for more advanced woodworking or boat-related classes.

Skill level: Beginner

Outcome: Foundational tool skills and increased workshop confidence. Take home a project such as a toolbox or bench.

Duration: All day. Break for lunch.
